Lunch with Refugee Program pioneers

On Thursday, October 19, 2012, one of Jim's interviewees for Hope of the Phoenix (book-in-progress) initiated a lunch attended by other members of the Team of the formative years of the U.S. State Department's Refugee Program bureau. Many of that team continue to work and/or reside in the Washington, DC, area. Recordings and photos were made. Use PHOTOS_1 page tab/link above.

Interviewing original RP team members

In 2012, Jim began a process of interviews with some people that were vitally involved with developing a U. S. State Department initiative at a critical time...the U. S. Refugee Program (RP), from its inception in 1979 until his departure in 1986. Hope of the Phoenix is Jim's book-in-progress about that remarkable, testing time. The book will show personal dynamics, international crises, and the nation's commitment, strategies, sacrifices, and risks during an amazingly painful yet heroic era.
Interview meetings occurred in residences and offices in Washington, DC, and outlying areas.
